Hey, I'm

Chelsey

Photographer based in Cape Town and Europe

I'm a Cape Town based photographer, which is pretty much one of the most beautiful places in the world! Over our winter season I love to travel for weddings.

My love of photography began when I was 15 years old. I constantly had a camera around my neck and did photoshoots of friends every opportunity I could get. I began photographing weddings in 2016 and have shot well over 100 weddings. Every year my passion for this art has only grown stronger. I’ve witnessed so many vows and celebrated with so many wonderful people. Alongside weddings I also love capturing all the other small and big moments. There still isn't a day that goes by where I don't sit in awe that I get to live out my passion everyday!

Photography and capturing moments not only of my family and friends but of others is what makes me the happiest. How rewarding it is to think that I will be behind those images that your grandkids look at one day, as they sit around a table together telling tales of the people and moments that once were.

Being a creative means that I have more than one hobby, I love travelling, going on camping adventures, love interior decorating and have recently started dabbling in Pottery. I hope to share more than just my photography on here, but these other interests too. However, out of all my hobbies and interests (there are many!) photography has always stuck out - even when I didn't realise it. In my spare time you'll find me behind the lens.

I love photos, they hold a special place in my heart as they're a reminder of what was, even when your memory starts to fade. I am honoured to play a part in my client's stories and I urge you to print your pictures, keep them safe and share them often.

My Approach

I love moments. I love watching the sun sink into the horizon and rise over the mountains. I love people and connecting with them. Listening to their stories and knowing about what inspires them. Real moments mean more than posing you on the other side of my lens. I want to capture your love, how he makes you laugh when you're trying not to, how she can bring out a side of you that no one else can or the look in your eyes when you glance over at each other while no one else is watching.

My approach is that of a documentary style, whether it be for your wedding day or a family photo shoot - I will obviously guide and pose you when needed (we'll make sure you look hot!) but ultimately let your individuality shine through. It can feel awkward and vulnerable to be in front of a camera, but that's why I'm here to help you through the whole process. Most importantly I want to spend time with you, get to know the people I'm photographing.
